A rare Korean tortoiseshell and mother of pearl-inlaid lacquered cabinet Joseon dynasty, 18th century The rectangular top above a recess pierced with fylfot side panels above pair of cupboard doors decorated with two confronting dragons, 92cm high, 62cm wide. During the Joseon period, lacquer was used predominantly on boxes and furniture, often also inlaid in mother-of-pearl, tortoiseshell and shagreen or ray-skin. Cf.
